Hours: 40 hours per week 

We’re looking for an experienced public affairs professional with an interest in how we manage our resources and the skills to help us create the legislative environment to help us treat them more sustainably. This is an exciting role for a Public Affairs Manager to join our dynamic team, working flexibly and on a blended basis, including some time each week at our Kings Cross head office and visits to our Southwark depot, close to Westminster and the corridors of power, as and when required.

What will you be doing?

You will work with internal stakeholders (technical and commercial) to define Veolia’s lobbying position on a range of issues, establishing and maintaining Veolia’s relationships with Ministers, politicians, civil servants and local MPs.

Organising and hosting site visits for major customers and stakeholders at Veolia sites and working with the relevant teams (commercial/municipal) to manage customer events, as well as preparing presentations and briefs for Veolia speakers at major events.

Providing support to our Senior Exec VP in their role as ESA Chairman and supporting Veolia’s representatives on ESA Working Groups.

Line management responsibility for the Public Affairs Officer and ensure a culture of support and improvement.

What are we looking for?

  • You will hold a degree level qualification, ideally related to Politics/International Relations
  • Demonstrable experience in a public affairs role, including experience of campaign management and achieving lobbying goals; and engaging at a senior level
  • You will also have superb written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present confidently and persuasively
  • Experience working within the recycling and waste management industry and an understanding of collection and treatment operations in London would also be advantageous
  • People management and budget management experience would also be beneficial
