Carbon guzzling, biodiversity buzzing, beautiful, bountiful British hedgerows are unsung heroes when it comes to our fight against climate change and the biodiversity crisis. Would you like to use YOUR skills and talents to contribute to a hedgerow renaissance?

The Tree Council and our partners are launching a new 3 -year national hedgerows programme for England, funded by Defra's Trees Call to Action Fund. Comprising a varied range of rural and urban hedgerow initiatives, ‘Talk to the Hedge' will raise public awareness of the wonders of hedgerows and all they do for humans, wildlife and the planet. Our goal is to plant more hedgerows across the nation and to make sure those we already have are healthier and thriving for the future.

We’re looking for a Community Engagement Officer to be at the heart of this new programme where active communication, attention to detail and determination will be vital to success. You'll need to possess top notch people skills and communication ability with creativity and infectious enthusiasm for inspiring people to learn, survey, plant, restore and carefully manage hedgerows and trees in urban and rural communities.

This post can be based at our London office or from your home and is full time (however we will also consider 4 days /week for the right candidate).

The Trees Call to Action Fund is funded by Defra and is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency.
