ADAS is looking for an Assistant Ecologist or Ecologist with strong Ornithological skills to join our team. The role is permanent, flexible and home based and will be associated with one of our regional offices in Boxworth, Cambridgeshire or Milton Park, Oxfordshire.

ADAS is currently expanding our specialist ornithological team and we are keen to find an ecologist to assist in the development and delivery of various ongoing projects. Our Ecology business comprises a highly skilled team focused on providing services to a wide range of clients, particularly developers, utility companies and the renewable energy and rural industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working as a team with our existing ecologists to ensure quality projects are delivered on time to our clients
  • Undertaking a range of ornithological surveys including breeding bird, wintering bird and vantage point surveys
  • Data management and GIS (or equivalent) mapping
  • Undertaking other ecological surveys, such as ecological constraints surveys, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and protected species surveys
  • Writing of technical reports

Person Specification

  • Graduate level education in a relevant subject
  • Strong bird identification skills (aural and visual)
  • CIEEM membership (desirable)
  • Knowledge of ecology, legislation, and survey techniques
  • Experience of managing projects and liaising effectively with clients
  • Excellent written communication skills and be able to produce accurate technical reports.
  • A pro-active attitude to managing your own time, finding solutions and ensuring that work is delivered on time and to the required standards
  • A full driving licence, access to your own vehicle and be commutable to one of our offices

Salary and Benefits

  • £21,000 - £29,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience
