The City Gardens team is responsible for the management of the City of London’s green spaces; almost 200 gardens and churchyards within the Square Mile including prestigious sites such as Finsbury Circus, St Dunstans in the East and St. Paul’s Cathedral Churchyard.

We are seeking an individual with drive and enthusiasm to join our team to lead on the delivery of projects delivered by our team and to deliver the horticultural aspects of wider corporate projects. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate an excellent knowledge of plants and horticulture, strong landscape design and project management skills.

The key purposes and requirements of the role are:

  • Delivery of high-profile projects
  • Preparation of planting schemes
  • Preparation of project briefs
  • Undertake consultations and Stakeholder engagement
  • CDM and Health and Safety
  • Prepare specifications and administer contracts
  • Prepare funding bids
  • Responsible for the programming of projects from inception to completion
  • Ensure compliance and H&S are in place and adhered to
  • Reporting of project performance
  • Provide horticultural expertise to the wider department
  • Update on pricing and financials
  • Responsible for project cost control
  • Oversee the delivery of the annual tree inspection, works and planting programmes
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and a desire to deliver top end results
  • Prince 2 qualification
