City of Trees is helping to transform the landscape across Greater Manchester, by planting millions of trees to help tackle the climate emergency and support green recovery. In doing so, it aims to improve the quality of life for people through interaction with trees and woodlands. There is so much going on right now – it’s a fantastic time to join the team!

We are currently recruiting a Project Officer to work with us on a fixed term basis, which is aligned to the Greater Manchester Environment fund; working in partnership with Groundworks, Lancashire Wildlife Trust, RHS, and Sow The City.

We welcome applicants who have knowledge and experience of planning and delivering events and delivering environmental and/or community-based projects. You may have experience of managing volunteers or supervising contractors, however, this is not essential.

You will take a proactive role in coordinating green space funding work to deliver aims and objectives. You will focus on engaging with local communities where access to quality green spaces is poor and tackle inequalities including health and wellbeing. Your passion for green spaces and associated benefits to wellbeing will enable and encourage people to get closer to nature.

Your ability to influence and bring people on board will be critical to the success of group networking events. You will enjoy creating new ways to engage with communities and be enthusiastic about adapting current activities.

Fundamental to this role is your understanding of the challenges and opportunities that exist within the environment sector. You will draw on your financial awareness to monitor project budgets.

You will be professional and approachable, recognising the importance of building and maintaining successful partnerships to achieve positive outcomes for all.

Your sincerity towards equality and diversity will be paramount, enabling the work that you do to be inclusive to everyone.

It is essential that you are fully conversant with Microsoft Office and have a full clean driving licence.

You must be flexible in your approach to meeting the needs of the Organisation and value being part of a team.
