Boston Borough Council, East Lindsey District Council and South Holland District Council have formed the South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership. The largest Council Partnership in the country. Since October 2021, the Partnership Councils have been working closely to deliver improved services to the communities in the sub-region and already there have been many positive outcomes.

Over time, it is envisaged that services will become formally shared across the three Councils creating the opportunity for colleagues to be involved in new and innovate areas of work.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual who enjoys working on their own initiative and who wants to make their mark on the development and delivery of new policy and procedures to join the Climate Change and Environment Team.

The Sustainable Development Officer role is key to ensuring that local and national policy commitments in relation to this agenda are embedded within service areas across the South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership with a particular focus on planning policy and development management.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide support and guidance to embedding developments within the Environment Act 2021 across Council operations and ensuring it delivers for our local communities. They will also lead the rollout of Carbon Literacy training to staff and members across the Partnership.

The role will be central to delivering an exemplar approach to biodiversity net gain and ensuring Council developments consider carbon reduction and net gain requirements from the outset. It will also take the lead on exploring how a natural environment strategy can work hand in hand with green investment opportunities across the sub-region.

To be successful you will have:

  • Knowledge and passion for driving forward the climate change and environment agenda
  • Previous experience of interpreting, analysing and translating legislative and regulatory requirements for local delivery and devising and implementing new policy
  • Degree level education, or demonstrable experience in a relevant field
  • Understanding of the links between climate change and environment outcomes and wider cross-societal benefits such as health and wellbeing, place management and economic growth

If this role is initially based in Manby, it will change to Horncastle due to a planned office relocation.
