Sustainability Consultant – Carbon Footprints

Filkin & Co. EHS Limited are looking to recruit a Sustainability Consultant to work across multiple carbon footprint and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) projects for an initial 6-month period.

You will have the opportunity to work with progressive clients, helping them measure and move towards sustainability benefits, including work for chemical and manufacturing companies in the UK and overseas. Assessments will be undertaken on organisations, products, events and individuals. A great deal of the work is highly confidential so discretion will be key.

We are ideally looking for a candidate with experience of product and organisation carbon footprints and some experience of LCA. You will enjoy both managing delivery of consulting projects in small teams, sometimes working with other consultancies, and working independently with minimal supervision.

Applications will be considered at both Junior Consultant and Consultant levels. Some experience in industrial settings would be considered beneficial.

Ideal Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have experience and skills covering the below, combined with an enthusiasm for continual development. Discretion will be key and understanding that clients may require Non-disclosure Agreements to be signed:

• STEM Degree (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) or suitable experience and skills;
• Proven track record of carbon footprinting or full LCA;
• Experience of industry;
• Managing delivery of projects;
• Writing high quality and concise summary reports, as well as detailed technical reports;
• Good initiative, comfortable working under regular periods of minimal supervision;
• Excellent Excel skills, comfortable creating and maintaining large and complicated Excel models;
• A good understanding of carbon footprint standards such as PAS 2050, WRI GHG Protocol, ISO 14076…etc
• Awareness of forthcoming international legislation such as Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM);
• Experience with ecoinvent, OpenLCA, SimaPro or GaBi is advantageous;
• Highly numerate with excellent analytical skills;
• Data extraction and analysis; and

• Appreciation of Quality Assurance.

Job Role

This role involves a range of activities, including:

• Delivering carbon footprint projects;
• Delivery across multiple consultancy projects;
• Writing technical summary reports and detailed technical reports;
• Liaison with clients, project partners and key stakeholders;
• Analysis of large datasets, condensing into robust and digestible outputs;
• Supporting senior colleagues;
• Internal quality assurance; and
• Presenting results and interpretation to our clients.
