It's an exciting time to join us!
Here at Southern Water, we offer a huge variety of roles and career paths.
As the Nature Based Solutions Senior Officer, you will work to protect and enhance the natural
processes in our catchments in West Sussex and across our supply area.
Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders you will lead the delivery of habitat and
ecosystem focused initiatives to support a clean, healthy and resilient water environment.
You will have a good understanding of wetland ecology, catchment processes and experience
delivering environmental land management projects. Your technical knowledge and experience of
working with farming and rural businesses will be as important as your ability to understand
and communicate with stakeholders to create positive outcomes, delivering nature-based
solutions at a catchment scale.
This is a great time to join us as we’re currently commencing several ambitious projects to
accelerate the delivery of wetland and floodplain restoration, integrating this with our vision
to place catchments and nature-based solutions at the heart of our processes and operations.
With proven experience working with land-based contractors, your role will be key to ensuring
we deliver a range of demonstration sites, showcasing the protection and enhancement of
multiple benefit ecosystem services, working in close collaboration with stakeholders,
landowners and local partners.
You will also work internally with strategy managers to help shape our programme and embed
ecosystem focused outcomes into our wider business planning. Aligning our work with partnership
funding opportunities and supporting the way we communicate and value natural processes in our
decision making.
You will have the opportunity to grow and develop in this role, taking your existing expertise
in delivering catchment solutions to the next level through a series of high-profile landscape
scale initiatives. Providing flagship examples of delivering integrated nature positive,
investable outcomes.
You will have an environmental background with experience in ecology and knowledge of farming,
land management and environment contractor process. You will be a dynamic self-starter with the
ability to multitask. Your leadership ability, passion for delivering positive outcomes,
forward with negotiating skills and influential abilities with your flexible nature will make
you perfect for this role. As you will be travelling to different nature-based sites around
West Sussex, it is essential that you are a confident driver with your own transport.
Does this opportunity excite you but you’re not 100% sure if you meet all the requirements for
the role? Or are you concerned that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t possible given your personal
circumstances? Whilst we can’t accommodate every flexible working request, we’ll try to find a
practical solution. So why not engage with us and find out more about this role?
