We’re recruiting for an Executive Director - Technical and Innovation to join the Board and support the continued growth and development of one of the UK’s leading natural environment consultancies.
This role has been created in recognition of the rapid pace at which change and growth are being experienced by the company. The post holder will support the Managing Director and lead the company’s approach on all aspects of corporate strategy and support services.

Middlemarch has grown at lightning speed over the last few years and now employs over 100 colleagues across the UK. In response to this growth, the company is looking for an Executive Director to join at Board level to work with the MD and ensure the company continues to grow in a sustainable and resilient manner.
The role will join the company Board of Directors and will play an active role in company Governance, Board decision making, and the collective ownership of the company's strategy.
In addition, the post holder will be part of the company's Executive leadership team, accountable for the efficient and effective running of day-to-day business and responsible for the company’s technical work streams, quality assurance, colleague development and working with the MD on the innovation of new services and solutions.
The Executive Director - Technical & Innovation will also coordinate the business’ engagement with higher education and academia, identifying opportunities for research and development that will maintain Middlemarch’s position as a thought leader in the natural environment space.
This is a Board level appointment and so applicants will need to be able to demonstrate senior leadership experience at Head of Department or Director level.
In depth knowledge of natural environment consultancy is essential, including an understanding of the breadth of exciting opportunities presented by recent developments in the biodiversity and nature-based solutions sector.
Given the Executive Director - Technical and Innovation will be required to provide sign-off on technical proposals and reports they must have a clear understanding of environmental regulation and legislation and be able to demonstrate extensive technical consultancy experience, including survey techniques, best practice guidance, and technical report writing.
Chartership/membership of CIEEM or an equivalent industry body would be advantageous.

WHAT WE OFFER
In return, Middlemarch will offer a starting salary of £65,000 plus a company car or car allowance.
The successful candidate will also benefit from 35 days annual leave, an executive bonus scheme and private medical insurance.
