About the role

The Field Surveys team specialises in aquatic ecological and hydro morphological survey work throughout the UK with sampling and monitoring of lakes, ponds, canals, rivers, estuary, coastal and marine environments.

The successful applicant in this role will support senior team members to ensure that all field work is completed within the required timescales, as well as reporting any issues to senior field staff and project managers. The main responsibilities for this role will involve undertaking field work, maintain and calibrate field equipment as well as carrying out data entry tasks. The successful applicant will also be expected to demonstrate good working practice in collaboration with the wider APEM team and support field data collection for assigned project work. 

This role is being advertised on the basis of a six month contract.

About you

You will have at least one year's experience in a similar role and be able to demonstrate experience in data collection. It is imperative that you have excellent communication skills and be able to show technical capability for the role.

Skills and Experience - Essential

  • Degree educated in a relevant discipline
  • Excellent data handling skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to work away from home (where required)
  • Technically competent and proficient in discussing subjects within your knowledge area
  • Ability to swim
