The Partnerships Coordinator will build Ethical
Consumer’s network and relationships with external organisations,
campaign groups and businesses. They will play a key role in planning
our annual conference in the autumn, and will work with our Marketing
and Consultancy teams on partnership strategies and delivery.
Hours and wages
Ethical Consumer currently has 20 worker members, all on equal
pay, and a similar number of associates, contractors and volunteers.
Partnerships Coordinator Job Description
Co-operative responsibilities
All permanent staff are members of the co-operative. All members share the responsibilities of
running the co-operative. Shared duties include:
- Taking part in the decision-making process;
- Subgroups for areas of management including Personnel, Finance or Publishing.
Specific responsibilities - the Partnerships Coordinator role will:
- Build Ethical Consumer’s network and relationships with
external organisations, campaign groups and businesses, including for and through our annual
Ethical Consumer Week conference.
- Support the development of our consultancy strategy of
diversifying our client base and supporting the creation of long term collaborative projects
that work towards our vision and mission.
- Liaise with speakers, sponsors and partners for Ethical
Consumer Week, in order to implement the strategic plan for the event.
- Work with external organisations or multiple stakeholders
to deliver complex projects, for example coordinating with non-profit organisations to
co-publish shopping guides; or coordinating with consultancy clients and Ethical Consumer
researchers to deliver research projects.
- Work with Marketing and Consultancy teams to develop
strategies for partnership building.
- Work with Best Buy Label companies, to build relationships
and networking opportunities.
- Include some marketing of Ethical Consumer products such as Screenings and our
Corporate Research Database, through building relationships with potential clients and product
development.

Essential qualities
- Commitment to the co-operative way of working, good interpersonal communication skills, and
ability to contribute to a co-operative decision-making process
- Awareness of and an interest in ethical consumption. This may include an interest in the
environment, human rights, animal welfare and politics in relation to corporations
- Experience of partnership and network building
- Ability to behave in a confident and professional manner towards colleagues, clients and
other relevant contacts
- Excellent organisational skills, ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and prioritise, and
work on own initiative
- Experience of working with external organisations or multiple stakeholders to deliver
complex projects
- Ability to measure and monitor success
- Experience of successfully pitching ideas or products to new clients
- Attention to detail
- Ability and willingness to learn
Desirable qualities
- Experience of digital marketing
- Good computer literacy and an ability to learn new computer programmes
- Web writing and editing experience

Location: Ethical Consumer Research Association (ECRA) offices, Hulme,
Manchester. We have a preference for a candidate who will be able to come into the office some
of the time but will consider allowing for a fully remote position for the right candidate.
