Cumbria Coastal Community Forest Woodland Creation Forester

£30,000 - £36,000 per annum

Cumbria Woodland's vision is for every woodland in Cumbria and beyond to thrive ecologically and economically for the benefit of all. We support cutting edge research, individual training, government-level strategy and multi-million-pound projects, working in conjunction with woodland owners, researchers, environmental experts, and corporate partners.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Woodland Creation Forester to join us, bringing with them their valuable experience of woodland creation on a range of scales.

We welcome applicants who have knowledge of the UK Forest Standard and of forestry, green infrastructure, and natural capital, as well as experience of working with landowners and developing funding packages. A Forestry degree or similar is essential for this role. Whilst not essential, a membership of a professional body such as Institute of Chartered Foresters or working toward membership and a project management qualification are advantageous.

You will design, manage, and monitor projects, schemes, and plans in line with UK Forest Standard.

Fundamental to this role is your passion for promoting the benefits of the Cumbria Coastal Community Forest, woodland planting, and management opportunities to all types of landowners. In accordance with land management targets, you will be keen to secure a stream of projects and opportunities for acquisitions.

You will enjoy sharing your knowledge with landowners, communities, and organisations through various events in which you will take responsibility for organising and promoting.

You will have an attention to detail, particularly important for fulfilling duties in relation to project finance management and UK Forest Standards.

You will have a hard-working approach and a great deal of motivation, recognising the importance of team spirit whilst also being able to deliver results when working alone. You will have a consultative approach to decision making and problem solving.

You will be a confident communicator who can strike a rapport with everyone you meet and be comfortable working in partnerships with others to achieve shared goals.

In addition, you will have strong ICT skills which includes GIS and a driving licence with access to a vehicle in order to visit sites in line with the requirements of the role.

Cumbria Woodlands is open to different types of flexible working options which may be considered on application. Currently, all our staff work on a remote basis with attendance at the office and other sites when required to do so as part of their duties.

Should you be interested in this role, please submit a full cv detailing your relevant skills and experience along with either a covering letter, short piece to camera or an illustration, to [email protected].
