Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is an impressive Council with a renewed strong sense of direction. The Council is embarking upon an unprecedented level of regeneration which is seeking to deliver real and substantial improvements to the quality of life of its residents.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join the Council as its Climate Change Manager. It is a great time to join the Council as we address the ‘call to action’ to urgently reduce carbon emissions both from the Council’s operations and throughout the Borough as a whole, whilst building resilience to climate change and also to support climate priorities within the South Yorkshire area and Yorkshire and Humber region.

Working as part of the management team within Asset Management, you will be responsible for leading a recently enlarged team in developing a Council wide approach to Climate Change, in order to meet our respective 2030 and 2040 net zero targets. You will work alongside key officers and elected members in the authority as well as forge positive working relationships with partners to gain consensus and support of this challenging agenda,

This new role will lead the Climate Change Programme, which includes the implementation of a range of priority projects across the Council as set out in the Rotherham Climate Action Plan. Further projects include enlarging the Council’s EV charging provisions, developing a proof of concept Solar PV generation project, options for the Council’s Fleet and investigating, developing and implementing new energy efficiency technologies.

We offer a great work life balance including flexible working as well as the option to work alongside a team willing challenge the norm to deliver a better outcome.
