About the role

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Officer to join our Network Development team in England North, working across the National Cycle Network which covers a diverse character with a blend of city regions and National Parks with everything in between.

Our Senior Project Officer role will help to develop accessible walking, wheeling, and cycling routes for everyone. These roles will be focusing on delivering our Paths for Everyone vision for the National Cycle Network which aims to improve the number and quality of traffic-free paths across the UK.

You will have responsibility for delivering projects as well as leading on strategies and programmes including access control barriers, sub-standard crossings, signage and Quiet Lanes that collectively fix and grow the National Cycle Network.

Your work will involve working with local authorities, partners and the wider England North Sustrans team, ensuring that budgets and resources are well managed to achieve successful project outcomes.

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans. Candidates should be based in North England and able to travel to one of our office bases in Manchester, Leeds, or Newcastle.

About you

You should have project management experience as well as working as a team to deliver programmes and projects on time and to budget.

You should have the ability to build relationships with ease across a wide range of people from varied backgrounds, allowing you to effectively communicate with colleagues and partners alike.

You will use your knowledge and experience of the issues surrounding walking, wheeling, and cycling infrastructure to deliver high quality improvements for active travel users.
