Education and Engagement Officer
Salary: £28,695 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Fixed Term Contract to March 2023
Location: Jenkins Lane Reuse and Recycling Centre, Barking, IG11 0AD; with some time spent in the Keep Britain Tidy office in central London. Hybrid working is available. Travel across the London Boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Newham and Redbridge is essential.
Keep Britain Tidy is an independent charity which works to eradicate litter and reduce waste, improve the quality of public space and help people live more sustainably. We are looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring Education and Engagement Officer to join our Waste Insights team and lead on the delivery of theRecycle for Your Community Programme within the East London Waste Authority (ELWA) boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Newham and Redbridge. The programme aims to increase resident participation in waste prevention behaviours and recycling. This role includes, but is not limited to, the delivery of:
This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is ready and able to educate the next generation about waste and recycling issues. The successful candidate will have an interest in these issues, with experience of delivering education activities to young people and working in a school setting, alongside excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a self-directed manner. The position is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
The position is based at MuRFy’s World, an interactive classroom at Jenkins Lane Reuse and Recycling Centre with regular travel across the ELWA region. The post holder must have a full driving licence, and regular access to a car. There is also scope to spend time in the Keep Britain Tidy office in London and work from home.
