JOB TITLE: Business Development Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Business Development Manager

Jump is the UK’s leading provider of engagement programmes in sustainability and wellbeing, our clients include NHS Trusts, universities, companies and local authorities.

We’re all about driving positive behaviour change, whether it’s energy saving in the workplace or improving waste minimisation among residents. Ultimately, Jump programmes encourage lots of people to take small actions, which add up to make a big difference. We have over half a million people on board, who collectively took 3 million positive actions in 2020.

In 2021, we launched our Net Zero Challenge programme for COP26. The purpose of this was to help organisations and businesses to achieve their Net Zero targets, by educating and motivating their people to develop carbon neutral behaviours

Based in Clapham, we are a small but ambitious team, who all have a passion for sustainability. Working at Jump is interesting, exciting and not without its share of challenges. It’s a can-do culture – you need to be solutions-oriented, with a positive approach to life and work.

It is an exciting time here at Jump. Across the last year we have launched some exciting new products and are looking for someone to join the Business Development team to build a pipeline, who is going to help us achieve (and exceed our targets). The successful candidate will ideally have some past sales experience, but more importantly have a determined, entrepreneurial attitude to sales.

We need someone to join our Business Development team, who will be selling our standard product Net Zero Challenge and customised programmes to the education sector. As part of the role you will also support functions for business development, with the crucial outcome of winning more clients. We have ambitious targets for the next few years, and through helping us achieve these there will be opportunity to earn commission.

The role requires a sound understanding of how to build good corporate relationships, and the importance of maintaining and developing office systems. Strong communication skills (written and spoken) combined with a methodical, systematic approach are key attributes. You’ll need to be commercially focused, self-motivated, able to work on your own initiative and have a good understanding of the best ways to build relationships across a range of different sectors.

We will teach you about our Jump platform and product, and you will quickly pick up the nuances of our target markets (charities, SMEs, universities and colleges). You need to be self-motivated and be enthusiastic about our ethos and approach. Every day will be different and we’ll train you in what we do and why, but you must already have the commitment and drive.

  • The ultimate aim of this role is to build a pipeline for our recently launched product Net Zero Challenge and to sell our customised programmes to the education sector.
  • Building up a list of contacts, maintaining and developing our CRM.
  • Organising and holding sales meetings
  • Making outbound sales calls
  • Assisting potential clients with business cases, identifying the most effective ways to engage their people.
  • Drafting email communications.
  • Maintaining the impact database, enabling the Business Development team to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Jump programme
  • At the very top of your list will be ways to keep building client relationships.

  • Previous experience and interest in a sales role
  • Forward thinking and prepared to take a proactive approach
  • Passion for and knowledge of sustainability
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and be confident presenting
  • Ability to use a CR system
  • A commercial approach that enables you to identify and pursue opportunities
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, particularly relationship building.
  • Good customer service, problem-anticipation and problem-solving skills
  • Able to learn new systems and then devise robust processes for maximising resources.
