Principal and Senior Ecologists, Scotland (remote and part-time working available)

Arcus is one of the UK’s leading planning, environmental and engineering consultancies, currently working on major cutting edge renewable energy projects (domestic and international). We are seeking talented Senior or Principal Ecologists to join our Ecology Team in Glasgow (remote working available). This position would be well suited to someone looking to build on their existing skillset and develop a broad range of experience and specific expertise on high profile projects with major clients. The Role:

  • Carrying out Ecological Impact Assessments;
  • Writing reports and other deliverables such as HRA’s, mitigation proposals and discharge of planning conditions;
  • Preparing protected species license applications;
  • Reviewing technical deliverables;
  • Co-ordinating and carrying out ecological surveys;
  • Providing Ecological Clerk of Works services on development sites;
  • Supporting team members with the delivery of projects;
  • Engaging with project managers, stakeholders and clients.

Skills & Experience:

  • An undergraduate degree in ecology/zoology or a related field, or sufficient experience and knowledge;
  • Experience co-ordinating and undertaking a range of ecology surveys;
  • Report-writing experience;
  • Knowledge of protected species licensing and mitigation as well as relevant guidance and legislation;
  • Membership of CIEEM; and
  • Full driving licence.
