Recycling Advisors - five posts
Salary: Waste & Recycling Advisor – £10.85 per hour (London Living Wage 2020/21)
Contract: Casual Contract for 3 weeks
Location: Across the London Borough of Hackney

We are proud to be an inclusive and flexible employer. We particularly welcome applications from all sectors of the community including under-represented groups in the charity sector.

Keep Britain Tidy is running a residential engagement and behaviour change doorstepping campaign on behalf of London Borough of Hackney. The project involves doorstepping 40,000 residential properties across the borough to remind residents of the service change which was introduced on 1 March 2021 (fortnightly waste collections and wheeled residual bins), encourage the use of existing recycling collections and deliver a waste service leaflet to all properties.

The week’s work will consist of five days of door-stepping, Tuesday to Saturday, for 7.5 hours per day including an unpaid half an hour break (some flexibility of Sunday and Monday working may be required).

The successful applicants will have an interest in the environmental and waste sectors, and the ability and willingness to undertake engagement work in an outdoor environment using handheld devices for data recording.

These positions will provide sought-after experience for those looking for a career in the environmental sector, especially the waste and recycling industry, and are paid at or above the London Living Wage. These positions also offer a chance to change the way people manage their waste in Hackney and make a real impact on recycling rates and waste production. In joining this project you also have the opportunity of joining our Bank of Casual Workers, through which further employment may be available at the end of this contract.

Full training will be provided at the start of the project.
