Sustainability Officer

2 Year fixed term, part-time (20 hours) contract on the grade range SCP 24 - 28 (SCP 24 = £14.50 per hour)

We are looking to appoint to a new post of Sustainability Officer. We want someone with enthusiasm and skills to support our community in meeting the challenges of the climate crisis.

Job Purpose

Wells City Council acknowledged the Climate Emergency in April 2019. The City Council established a Climate Emergency Committee in September 2019 to support the Council in building the resilience of Wells through consideration of both Mitigation and Adaptation. The Sustainability Officer will have direct responsibility for developing and where agreed, leading projects to secure greater resilience and self-reliance for Wells by working with our community.

These may include projects in areas such as:

  • reducing and recycling waste
  • energy efficiency
  • reducing the need to travel using private cars
  •  renewable energy generation
  • and the creation of jobs and training opportunities in these fields.

If you are that person you can expect to work with residents, community organisations, local businesses and various public agencies in a programme of work that will impact as widely as possible.
