Job Title: Senior Environmental Consultant – Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
Location: Various locations (London/Manchester/Bristol preferable but also happy to consider Birmingham, Leeds and Southampton)

About the EP&A team

The Environmental Planning & Assessment (EP&A) team is a team of five within the Environmental Consultancy group. The Environmental Consultancy group forms one of the key Lines of Business within CBRE Limited and has been identified as a strategic growth priority for the business in 2021. The core service offering within EP&A is EIA consultancy; although, we also offer a range of other services, including EIA Reviews on behalf of Local Planning Authorities, Environmental Due Diligence, Socio-Economic Impact Assessment, Health Impact Assessment, Social Value Assessment and Greenhouse Gas Impact Assessment.

The team’s success has been built on helping our clients deliver sustainable, viable and implementable schemes on complex sites. We seek to provide clear, concise and commercially-minded advice, and deliver proportionate EIA that allows schemes to be robustly assessed and delivered in a timely fashion. We have been registrants on IEMA’s EIA Quality Mark Scheme since 2015.

The EP&A team are currently instructed on a number of high profile schemes across the UK and are therefore looking to expand the team. This is a great opportunity to join a small, dynamic team with ambitions for continued organic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day EIA project management and coordination
  • Lead author and editor of Environmental Statements
  • Attending meetings with clients, design teams, local authorities and statutory and non-statutory consultees
  • Assisting with business development, with a focus on supporting the CBRE National and London Planning teams, as well as building relationships with external clients 
  • Assisting with preparation of fee proposals
  • Assisting with forecasting, invoicing, disbursements and bad debts
  • Assisting with the training and development of an existing junior team member 
  • Communicate industry knowledge back to the EP&A team and wider Environmental Consultancy group

Person Specification:

  • Educated to at least degree level in environmental science or a related subject
  • Ideally between 4-6 years EIA consultancy experience 
  • Demonstrable track record in delivering proportionate EIA on complex sites across the UK
  • Membership of a relevant professional body, such as IEMA 

Key Skills:

  • Detailed knowledge of the EIA process and UK EIA Regulations, as well as the planning system
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills: articulate, assertive and confident
  • Ability to engage and educate a diverse set of stakeholder groups including project teams and design/construction/real estate professionals
  • Detail-oriented: Strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn more and a desire to work in a dynamic, deadline-driven team environment
