Following considerable growth and increasing client demands the Environmental Risk team is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable and motivated Senior Consultant to enhance the existing Energy Performance Certificates/Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards/Air Conditioning Inspection (EPC/MEES/ACI) service line and support it’s further growth as part of the environmental and sustainability agenda for CBRE’s extensive Client network.

Role Purpose: 

An individual with a strong technical background in the preparation of EPCs and provision of associated advice to identify risks, opportunities and mitigation strategies for Clients to inform the acquisition, management and divestment of assets. This includes services provided as a key part of the Environmental Consultancy group’s provision of Environmental Social Governance (ESG) portfolio advice and management services to investor clients. The role will require a motivated, dynamic and commercially focused individual who will be able to act as a point of contact for clients, collaborate effectively with a range of colleagues and engage with other stakeholders (including property managers, leasing/sales agents, tenants and lawyers). 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare EPC (level 3 and 4) for a range of asset classes across the UK.
  • Support the team’s EPC & ACI Delivery Manager with the management of EPC suppliers contracted to provide services as part of the provision of ESG portfolio services.
  • Support the EPC/MEES service line lead to address and resolve EPC/MEES queries raised by clients and ESG programme managers with respect to EPC/MEES risks and opportunities.
  • Support the Environmental Risk team’s delivery of market leading Environmental Due Diligence reports for asset acquisition and divestment through the provision of MEES risk advice and commentary.
  • Act as an accessible point of contact for the timely provision of ad-hoc EPC/MEES advice sought by others within the CBRE business, particularly including Building Consultancy and Property Management.
  • Co-ordination and management of EPC services performed by CBRE’s directly appointed contractors, including arranging surveys, liaison with project stakeholders and review of assessment outputs.
  • Management of the delivery of framework portfolio EPC assessments for Property Management, A&T and GWS client accounts.
  • Support the EPC/MEES service line lead’s promotion of the EPC/MEES/ACI service line internally and externally through the delivery of presentations, learning sessions and thought leadership pieces covering the team’s work, legislative developments and market trends.

Person Specification/Requirements

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in relevant subject (e.g. mechanical engineering, energy and building design), or appropriate vocational experience and qualifications in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years professional experience working as an EPC assessor and providing EPC/MEES consultancy advice, or similar.
  • In addition to Level 3 and 4 experience, the accreditation and experience to complete Level 5 assessments would be advantageous, but not essential.
  • A proficiency in IES Virtual Environment would also be advantageous, but not essential.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills: articulate, assertive and confident.
  • Ability to engage and educate a diverse set of stakeholder groups including fund managers, property managers and building managers.
  • Detail-oriented: Strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn more and a desire to work in a dynamic, deadline-driven team environment.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, MS Office and Google Applications.
  • Willingness and ability to present at a range of internal and external forums.
