Every day TCV works across the UK to create healthier and happier communities for everyone - communities where our activities have a lasting impact on people's health, prospects and outdoor places.

Based at Stave Hill Ecology Park in Rotherhithe, London, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering ‘Employee Action Days’ to TCV’s valuable corporate partners as well as all associated administration, bookings and equipment management to further the work and site management at Stave Hill and neighbouring Russia Dock Woodland. It is envisaged that the delivery programme will constitute two days of delivery and one day of administration activities per week, however, some weeks may require 3 days of delivery. This post is offered on a fixed term contract to 31st March 2022.

This is a part-time role being offered at 21 hours per week.

Stave Hill Ecology Park has been part of the local Rotherhithe community in South East London for over 30 years. Starting from derelict industrial land, the Ecology Park was set up as part of a wider housing development master plan, becoming a show case and educational resource for local residents to learn and love nature in this urban area.

The Park has flourished into an intricate mosaic of habitats, however, as it’s a site open 24:7 it relies on support from the local community and volunteers to keep it clean, green and bursting with life.

It neighbours, and works closely with, Russia Dock Woodland which is an important green space and Local Nature Reserve managed by Southwark Council in the heart of Rotherhithe. It’s an amenity green space well used by local residents for exercise, walking, playing, meeting friends and families, commuting through and dog walking. It’s also home to a number of important habitats which complement and extend the reach of Stave Hill Ecology Park including ponds, reedbeds, woodland areas, scrub and meadows.

Corporate volunteer groups are essential to Stave Hill and Russia Dock Woodland’s day-to-day management and long term development. Working with the Senior Project Officer based on site and Southwark Council, this role will deliver high quality, productive and safe Employee Action Days in Russia Dock Woodland to help manage, enhance and protect the site now and in the future whilst ensuring every volunteer has a fantastic experience when on site with TCV.

Your main duties will include:

  • Organise and deliver high quality, practical environmental conservation projects for corporate volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain partner relationships.
  • Manage resources, including, tools, equipment PPE and sessional leader bookings.
  • Maintain safe working practices.
  • Maintain records of activities and complete all associated administration work as required.
  • Support to other projects within the Urban Ecology and wider London teams if/ when necessary with some weekend work required.

You will have experience of working with volunteers, a wide range of practical environmental conservation skills and the personality, aptitude and experience to share them with volunteers of differing abilities. IT literacy is required.

A bit more about us:

We recognise that each community and the people living there have different needs. Whether improving wellbeing, conserving a well-loved outdoor space or bringing people together to promote social cohesion and combat loneliness, TCV works together with communities to deliver practical solutions to the real life challenges they face.

For over 60 years we have adapted our work with volunteers to reflect the changing needs of communities in the UK and, by giving people a sense of purpose and belonging, we have empowered them to take control of their lives and outdoor spaces for the benefit of all.

Whilst our activities vary, our inclusive approach has remained consistent; bringing people and places together to create happy, healthy and connected communities for everyone.
