Senior Project Officer (fixed term 1 year, 35 hours per week)

Every day TCV works across the UK to create healthier and happier communities for everyone - communities where our activities have a lasting impact on people's health, prospects and outdoor places.

Particularly following the outbreak of COVID-19 people have been spending a lot of time indoors and have become inactive or isolated. TCV are working together with people, communities and partners to deliver practical actions that have a lasting impact on people’s health, prospects and outdoor places.

TCV is looking to recruit a Senior Project Officer who will work in partnership with East Ayrshire’s Learning Outdoors Support Team (LOST) and Coalfield Community Partnership Project to deliver East Ayrshire’s School Green Gym programme (working with Primary, Secondary and ASN) in Coalfield Communities Landscape Area and wider East Ayrshire.

The post holder will work with a range of teachers and pupils; to support schools to get outdoors, develop their skills in working and learning outdoors, and to improve individual’s physical and mental health.

The Senior Project Officer will be tasked with running School Green Gym sessions and supporting teachers through School Green Gym training. Activities include healthy growing projects, conservation tasks and school grounds development; all with an aim to improve school grounds for learning and improving pupils and teacher’s health and wellbeing, as part of the school’s attainment programme. The Senior Project Officer will also work with teachers to deliver on going School Green Gym guidance and support, to maintain school’s use of outdoor spaces within school grounds and local green spaces.

The project is delivered through a combination of funding through the Attainment Fund through East Ayrshire Council and National Lottery Heritage fund through Coalfields Communities Landscape Partnership and is offered as a 12 months, fixed term contract.

A bit more about us:

We recognise that each community and the people living there have different needs. Whether improving wellbeing, conserving a well-loved outdoor space or bringing people together to promote social cohesion and combat loneliness, TCV works together with communities to deliver practical solutions to the real life challenges they face.

For over 60 years we have adapted our work with volunteers to reflect the changing needs of communities in the UK and, by giving people a sense of purpose and belonging, we have empowered them to take control of their lives and outdoor spaces for the benefit of all.

Whilst our activities vary, our inclusive approach has remained consistent; bringing people and places together to create happy, healthy and connected communities for everyone.
