Home to two major cities and some stunning countryside and natural environments, Natural England’s Cheshire to Lancashire Team provides environmental leadership in an area of 6 million people in the Pennine and Bowland hills, the wetlands of Cheshire and Great Manchester and the wildlife-rich Irish Sea coast.  

This is an exciting opportunity to provide inspirational leadership to develop  a range of projects and work areas. We are seeking individuals who have a passion for people and who are willing to learn more about the work we do.  You will focus on people leadership and partnership working and champion Natural England’s priority to enhance the Nature Recovery Network though wetland connectivity, peat restoration, urban green space and Biodiversity Net Gain. 

This is initially a three year fixed term contract to support the EU Life Nature Course Programme. Duties include; 

  • Provide strong leadership for the team through the development of team plans and performance management for individuals.
  • Develop and continuously improve the team’s performance and sustain a culture focused on the wellbeing and morale of staff.
  • Inspire team members to innovate and show creativity in the way they deliver Natural England‘s priorities alongside those of our partners.
  • Support team members in dealing with casework and lead the external communications on this where appropriate.
  • Work with the Area Leadership Group to ensure that staff deliver shared ambitions in an integrated way. 
  • Work with external partners and stakeholders to support on the ground delivery through your team.
