Hours: 40 hours per week including occasional evening and weekend events 

We live in a world that needs to take care of its resources, and our mission at Veolia is to 'Resource the World'. We have an exciting opportunity for a Education, Communication and Outreach Officer to join our team in Watford, Herts. 

As the Education, Communication & Outreach (ECO) Officer, you will engage with residents and community groups across Watford to promote effective recycling and responsible environmental behaviour. Together with the ECO team you will deliver the annual communications action plan and help to increase the environmental quality in Watford.

What will you be doing?

  • Researching, developing and delivering projects to promote effective recycling and responsible environmental behaviours 
  • Communicating with residents to solve issues with waste collections and inform them of any changes to their waste and recycling services
  • Delivering engagement activities to achieve project goals which could include identifying target audiences, developing appropriate strategies to communicate key messages and change behaviours, organising community events and door-knocking target areas. 
  • Creating briefs and managing relationships with design agencies, printers and other third party suppliers to produce creative communication materials. 
  • Supporting the ECO Manager in the preparation of press releases, website updates, and social media communications.
  • Supporting internal communications campaigns to improve our working culture and safety performance, and liaising with the operational teams on service issues and campaign plans.

What are we looking for?

  • Full UK Driving Licence and experience driving in the UK is essential 
  • Educated to a Degree level or demonstrate equivalent competence 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills 
  • Have attention to detail, planning and organising skills with numerous workload
  • Comfortable presenting to large audiences including adults and children 
  • Experience of delivering behavioural change campaigns, projects or activities
  • Experience of speaking to people to resolve complaints in person, over the phone and via email/letter. 
  • IT literate with strong MS Office or Google Suite Skills
