Location: Virtual but can be office based in London in the future – dependent on circumstance.

We are looking for an ambitious and energetic Network Programme Manager who can deploy political insight and use their outstanding collaboration skills to plan and execute projects that help our network of local leaders and their staff tackle air pollution and address the Climate Emergency.

The role will be responsible for managing a programme of work such as supporting UK100’s network membership offer, co-ordinating UK100’s Countryside Climate Network, developing UK100’s online Knowledge Hub and organising our new “Local Power in Action” programme of work.

Key responsibilities:

● Manage UK100’s work that develops a network of elected local leaders and their teams, assisting our members in sharing policy expertise, best practice and convening them to advocate for greater local action on climate and clean air

● Manage UK100’s “Local Power In Action” Programme that will provide tailored support for Local Authorities wanting to drive substantial and measurable progress towards Net Zero and clean air

● Development of UK100’s online Knowledge Hub as an interactive hub that inspires and supports ambitious local action by local leaders and officers

● Co-ordinate UK100’s Countryside Climate Network of Local Leaders

● Support the development of UK100’s membership pledge programme that secures leaders’ commitment to ambitious action towards Net Zero climate emissions - and develop support for them to deliver against it, with regular meetings, communications and research

● Collaborate with UK100’s communications team to deliver a programme of communication that supports, engages and excites UK100’s membership

● Support the development of UK100’s CRM database

● Manage ambitious and impactful projects: to time, on budget, and meet agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and organisational outcomes.

● Represent UK100 at meetings and public events to promote ambitious action to tackle air pollution and the Climate Emergency from Local Authorities, National Government and business

Working Conditions: The postholder can be based in the UK100 London office (once we return from remote working), and will be expected to be flexible in the ways hours are worked. Some travel around the UK will be required.

Person Specification

Criteria Essential:

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of relevant national policy and politics re: air pollution and Climate Emergency
  • Understanding of the structures, functions, and governance processes of local government
  • Understanding of local opportunities and challenges for action on air pollution and the climate emergency
  • Appreciation of the financial and legal challenges facing our members
  • Awareness of change management practices and processes

Experience

  • Policy innovation, generation, and development
  • Working in partnership to build productive stakeholder relationships with an ability to influence and negotiate
  • Creating and building a high performing team to achieve meaningful change
  • Working in a lobbying or advocacy role

Skills and abilities

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Effective project management skills and ability to delivery agreed outcomes
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
