Activate Learning is looking for an inspiring leader to join our Land-based team within Higher Education provision. As a faculty manager, you will be responsible for the effective management and delivery of our suite of higher education programme(s). This is a unique and stand-alone suite of programmes which requires someone to play a central part in the development of a key strategic partnership with our partner university and liaising with awarding organisations and professional bodies to ensure the highest standards of delivery.

In addition, you will be responsible for developing teachers to improve team performance, with a corresponding improvement in the student experience and outcomes. Faculty teams of learning professionals co-create and co-deliver the learner experience alongside our carefully selected employer-partners, offering learners a direct line of sight to employment, and focusing on making every one of our learners a highly employable individual. 

Embedding and creating a vision for your team, you will work with the HE Programme and Faculty Coordinators to ensure high quality organisational planning and compliance with necessary administrative procedures. The post holder may be required to teach a certain number of hours per year.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop and mould our higher education provision to meet the needs of future students and land-based industries, working in partnership with a leading university. 

This post is a full time, permanent position based at Merrist Wood College, with the potential to earn up to £39,238 per annum depending on qualifications, skills and experience.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

The successful candidate, who will have an outstanding understanding of teaching and learning ideally applied in a technical setting and the drive to develop outstanding teachers through appropriate coaching approaches, with the ability to lead a teaching team and have responsibility for creating the conditions for driving quality of teaching, learning and assessment to ensure learners have an outstanding experience and develop the skills, knowledge and attributes needed for their career progression.

The role also included a proportional teaching commitment within the faculty. You will have an aptitude for using technology to enhance learning coupled with good planning and organisational skills.

Continuous learning and development will be central to your approach as a teacher and leader and you will be passionate about your own and others’ development, sharing this curiosity and enthusiasm with your students and colleagues. Your outward looking approach will enable you to liaise with colleagues across our Group for the benefit of your peers, colleagues and students. In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.
