Risk & Policy Analysts Limited (RPA) is an employee-owned independent consultancy with an established reputation and proven expertise in the fields of UK and EU policy, economics, environment, chemicals and sustainability.

We are seeking a Consultant to support the Environment & society team specialising in marine, fisheries and aquaculture. They will also learn from and contribute to other projects in the environmental field such as water quality and flood risk.

We operate agile working meaning you can work where and when you need to flexibly. We believe this enables people to have the work life balance they need. When you want to be in the office you can be based at either our head office in Norwich, Norfolk, or in London (based on the current COVID situation, we are following the relevant governmental advice and guidance). This is a permanent role that can be full time or part time role.

For the position as Consultant – specialising in marine, fisheries and aquaculture you will probably have:

  • At least 3 years’ success in a consultancy environment or similar;
  • Understanding of Water Framework Directive, 25 Year Environment Plan, Fisheries Bill, National Flood and/or Coastal Erosion Risk Management Strategy;
  • Some knowledge of natural capital and ecosystem services frameworks;
  • Some experience of designing stakeholder consultations and undertaking engagement activities (such as interviews, surveys, workshops, conferences);
  • Experience of applying research methods drawing on both quantitative and qualitative analysis and evidence;
  • Some experience of development of methodologies for assessing impacts

Additional skills that are desirable include:

  • Experience of seeking relevant tenders, preparing proposals and drafting reports;
  • A degree in environmental sciences or similar;
  • Experience of online or telephone consultation techniques (i.e. Smart Survey or similar);
  • Written and verbal communication skills in English, and proven ability to deliver high quality reports;
  • Good organisational skills and proven ability to work flexibly and to deliver high quality work to a deadline;
  • Effective team-working skills

Salary and benefits

Salary is transparent and will be within our pay ranges of £27,500 to £41,000 (Depending on experience). There is also an additional £3,000 London weighting where applicable. We offer up to 38 days holiday a year and after 6 months you will gain equity in the business via the employee-owned trust which brings tax free bonuses, profit share and a voice in the future of the company.
