Our team are leaders in developing strategies that help communities around the world plan and prepare for future shocks and stresses. We are now looking for a new Principal Consultant or Associate Director with a focus on urban climate resilience as we continue to grow from strength to strength supporting clients, both in the UK and overseas, such as the Committee on Climate Change, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and World Bank. We also work with our colleagues across the business to understand climate risks to major urban masterplans and infrastructure assets and design innovative resilience solutions for the public and private sector.


  • Strengthen our position as a leader in climate risk assessment and adaptation strategies for cities, infrastructure and large-scale regeneration both in the UK and across the Europe, Middle East, and, Africa (EMEA) region.
  • Develop our climate change resilience service offerings with practical and viable solutions for clients.
  • Deliver our ambitious business plan; growing our share of the market in urban resilience and climate adaptation by winning work with new/existing clients in the UK and across the EMEA region.
  • Support our urban design and infrastructure teams deliver more climate resilient projects.
  • Ensure effective delivery through project and financial management for complex assignments.
  • Maintain high quality professional outputs.
  • Develop talent within the team through line management and mentoring and support the upskilling of our colleagues on climate change.

Minimum Requirements

The ideal candidate would be able to demonstrate:

  • In applying for this role, we would like you to be able to demonstrate your ability in being able to demonstrate the following experience:
  • Proven track record in winning and delivering urban climate risk appraisal and adaptation strategies both in the UK and overseas.
  • Demonstrable experience developing urban development strategies for a wide range of clients including leading international finance institutions (World Bank, EBRD, EIB etc.), city governments, developers and/or development agencies both within the UK and overseas.
  • Strong understanding of climate change and ability to use climate projections across spatial scales.
  • Extensive project management and business development experience.
  • Experience managing resourcing project using staff and subconsultants.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English with experience managing participatory stakeholder engagement events and capacity building workshops with good appreciation of diversity and inclusion considerations. Additional language skills are an advantage.
  • Strong industry profile with experience presenting at conferences and publishing knowledge products in professional journals or other channels.
  • Good understanding of the development cycle and role of urban design / planning in creating more resilient places and / or infrastructure.
  • Good understanding of development funding and green financing an advantage.
