Closing date: Wednesday, 10th March 2021

TCV is the UK’s leading practical conservation charity working with people from all sectors of the community in positive action to improve the environment.

Every day TCV works across the UK to create healthier and happier communities for everyone - communities where our activities have a lasting impact on people’s health, prospects and outdoor places.

This role will be part of an exciting new project - The Clyde Climate Forest(CCF). The Clyde Climate Forest is a partnership which will engage communities and landowners in strategic tree planting within the Glasgow City Region (GCR) for a range of climate and ecological benefits. This role will work as part of a small team working within TCV and alongside organisations such as Scottish Forestry, the Woodland Trust and the Green Action Trust and with the support of the CCF Steering group and Programme Board.

The Senior Project officer role will take the lead on hands-on projects, working with community groups to identify sites and engage people in tree-planting activities to ensure that the strategic aims of the Clyde Climate Forest are aligned to the needs of local communities. This could include engaging local schools, working with community groups to identify sites and organising planting days with the community or corporate partners.

Other elements of the role will include, but not be limited to -

  • Recruiting and managing volunteers
  • Health and safety management, including producing risk assessments.
  • Quantifying and ordering materials in line with procurement policies.
  • Managing TCV’s local resources, including the office, tools, and vehicles.
  • Assisting with controlling the project budgets and project reporting.

A bit more about us:

We recognise that each community and the people living there have different needs. Whether improving wellbeing, conserving a well-loved outdoor space or bringing people together to promote social cohesion and combat loneliness, TCV works together with communities to deliver practical solutions to the real life challenges they face.

For over 60 years we have adapted our work with volunteers to reflect the changing needs of communities in the UK and, by giving people a sense of purpose and belonging, we have empowered them to take control of their lives and outdoor spaces for the benefit of all.

Whilst our activities vary, our inclusive approach has remained consistent; bringing people and places together to create happy, healthy and connected communities for everyone.
