Sustainable Food Trust
Flexible, weekly travel to Bristol required
£32,000 - £40,000 (dependent on experience)
Position Summary:
The post-holder will be responsible for project managing the Sustainable Food Trust’s
harmonised sustainability metrics work. This position will involve working closely with the
Deputy CEO to coordinate a new collaborative initiative (based on the SFT’s previous work in
this area) to develop an industry agreed framework for measuring on-farm sustainability. This
includes coordinating stakeholders, working groups, farm trials and keeping track of project
deliverables and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Play a lead role in coordinating the harmonised farm sustainability metric (HFSM)
initiative, managing a small but effective team of individuals as part of a secretariat.
- Support the delivery of a series of working groups, each involving a significant number of
stakeholders.
- Help coordinate the delivery of on-farm trials of the harmonised sustainability metric and
contribute to the subsequent follow up.
- Prepare documents to support the project, or facilitate others to do so, and work with the
Deputy CEO to ensure that evidence is robust and consistent with SFT policy.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key organisations and individuals and play a role
in facilitating collaborative work with partner organisations in the UK and internationally.
- Contribute to funding applications and reporting as required.
- Work with the Policy Director, CEO and Deputy CEO to raise awareness among the research
community and opinion formers about issues relating to food system sustainability.
- Oversee project finances, ensuring that expenditure is controlled in line with budgets
agreed with the Deputy CEO and Board of Trustees.
- Lead on the monitoring and reporting of project outcomes, keeping SFT staff, Directors,
partners and other stakeholders informed, and ensuring the timely submission of reports to
project funders.
- Work with the Head of Communications to ensure project updates are communicated
effectively.
- Work with and/or supervise other staff members, contractors and interns as appropriate.
