Background to the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small, dynamic and growing social enterprise, based in Manchester. The successful applicant will provide a busy programme of horticultural training and community development work, sharing their knowledge and passion for the environment and urban agriculture.

Sow the City have over ten years’ experience in delivering projects across Greater Manchester. Our mission statement is to help communities to grow and live sustainably. We provide a range of services to local authorities, schools, housing associations, the NHS, and the private sector including delivering workshops, events, corporate volunteering, consultancy, landscape design and research. Our office is based in Moss Side near central Manchester, but you will be required to work across Greater Manchester.

Salary: £19-24K pro rata (based on experience & qualifications)
Hours: Full time 5 days a week, 35 hours a week. Occasional weekends and evenings (which will accrue TOIL)
Contract: Fixed Term for 12 months and continuation subject to funding.
Probationary Period: 3 months.
Location: Based in Manchester and will travel across the Greater Manchester area (travel costs reimbursed).

Other Details

  • 5% employer pension.
  • 30 days holiday per year (bank holidays are taken as leave)
  • Sick-pay is 4-weeks full-pay, 4-weeks half-pay followed by statutory sick pay (subject to satisfactory probation period).
  • The role will require the successful candidate to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Full UK driving license essential.
