Wildscapes Consultancy is a successful social enterprise and CIEEM Registered practice
delivering professional ecological, land management and nature-based solutions that work for
businesses, people and wildlife. All profits from the consultancy are returned to Sheffield
& Rotherham Wildlife Trust, the parent company, to help fund their charitable work
conserving the natural environment and connecting people with nature.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join
us. The main purpose of this role is to lead business development to grow the consultancy
across all activities. This role also forms part of the Executive Team and will work with the
Trust CEO and Consultancy Board to set the strategic direction and grow the social enterprise,
developing business plans and agreeing and setting financial targets.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Securing new work and realising new business opportunities for all aspects of the
organisations activity
- Coordinating the business plan, working with the teams to agree targets, resources
and growth plans whilst overseeing budgets and finances
- Identifying new business opportunities and key contacts through internal and external
networks
- Securing new contract framework opportunities, putting new systems in place and
securing accreditation as required
- Developing business cases for investment, helping the Trust secure grants or loans as
appropriate
- Developing, testing and marketing new products and services
- Actively seeking out opportunities and taking forward the long-term strategic
development of both the Trust and Wildscapes
We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrable track record of delivering business growth, ideally in the conservation,
land management and / or ecology and planning sectors
- Substantial experience of working at senior level or above, successfully securing,
managing and delivering contracts in a commercial or social enterprise environment
- Strong networking skills with the ability to secure new business and
contracts
- Experience of managing a team, ideally multi-disciplinary
- Experience of developing and maintaining excellent customer / client relationships
across a range of organisations (local authorities, government agencies, infrastructure
contractors, housing developers, community groups, water companies etc)
- An excellent understanding of business development and how to successfully bring
products and services to market
- An understanding of tendering and frameworks, ideally in the land management and / or
environmental sector
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Full driving licence
