ThamesWey is looking to appoint an Energy Adviser to support the delivery of the Green Jump Surrey project.

ThamesWey manages Action Surrey, an impartial energy efficiency advice service designed to help residents within the county to reduce their energy consumption. Over the past seven years, Action Surrey has delivered over 2,500 energy saving improvements to Surrey home-owners including insulation, heating systems and solar technology.

Action Surrey is currently delivering its largest home energy efficiency project to date. Aimed at helping Surrey households improve the comfort and energy efficiency of their homes, the “Green Jump Surrey” project is being funded as part of the £200 million national Green Homes programme supporting low-income households. Action Surrey is co-ordinating this ambitious project within tight timescales on behalf of a coalition of Surrey local authorities and is looking for proactive individuals with a ‘can-do’ attitude to play a central role in delivering this exciting project.

Green Jump Surrey Energy Adviser

Role Purpose: To support the delivery of the Green Jump Surrey partnership project and be a point of contact for customers.
Reports to: Environmental Projects Manager
Contract Length: Full-time for 6 months (1st April to 30th September 2021)
Location: Based in Woking (home based during lockdown)

Salary: £20,000 - £24,000 pro rata (£10,000 - £12,000 for six months) depending on experience

Key Accountabilities & Activities

• Provide domestic energy efficiency guidance and advice to residents (including telephone advice and responding to enquiries from the website).
• Identify residents eligible for grant funding and the energy efficiency measures applicable to their property.
• Enter customer data into a customer database and ensure customer contact & project databases are regularly updated.
• Liaise and co-ordinate with contractors to implement measures & answer customer enquiries.
• Promote the available funding through marketing activities including updating the website and posting on social media.
• Assist with project administration and record keeping for reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

Education and Qualifications

Essential:

• Educated to degree level or at least two years experience of working in an administrative role.

Desirable:

• Energy, environmental or sustainability-related qualifications or interests

Knowledge and Experience

Essential:

• Experience of project support work or office administration
• Customer service experience, either via telephone or face to face
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships

Desirable:

• Interest in and knowledge of energy efficiency measures
• Preparation and execution of marketing activity
• Co-ordinating partners and contractors

Job Specific Technical Skills

Essential:

• Good knowledge and understanding of Excel and databases
• Excellent verbal communicator, particularly an articulate phone manner
• Strong English writing skills

Desirable:

• Interest in use of social media and new marketing & communications channels
