The Countryside and Woodlands team is seeking to recruit a Sphagnum Project Officer to run a new 4 year exciting experimental project funded through the National Lottery Climate Action Fund which could have a role in helping Calderdale reach its target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2038.
The post will be based in a team that manage countryside sites across Calderdale for the benefit of wildlife and people, running a large programme of practical volunteer conservation work and education programmes.
The post will establish and manage a community citizen science and volunteer programme running a sphagnum moss nursery aiming to produce a product that can then be utilised on local blanket bog areas, and establish the best ways to make this cost effective.

They will also be expected to manage and deliver all administrative elements of the project – finance and budgeting, report and record keeping, schools work, publicity, promotion and events. If you have recent experience of successfully establishing and developing a significant horticultural or conservation project we would welcome your application.
