TCFD Technical Capacity Building Manager / Director, CDSB Secretariat

(London-based, fixed-term contract until end of December 2021 – secondment applications welcomed)

The CDSB Secretariat is looking for an ambitious Technical Capacity Building Manager to lead the delivery of CDSB’s TCFD and ESG corporate training programs and capacity building activities.

The Climate Disclosure Standards Board (CDSB) works to create the enabling conditions for companies to disclose high-quality environmental information to their investors, thereby influencing their decisions and contributing to financially resilient capital markets worldwide.

As a Technical Capacity Building Manager, you will be responsible delivering our ambitious capacity building activities with companies in the lead up to COP26 to increase the awareness, uptake and quality of TCFD reporting globally. The role will work closely with many of CDSB’s partners across the world and will include the delivery of an extensive training program of stock exchange issuers with the UN’s Sustainable Stock Exchange Initiative (SSE) and the drafting of related thought leadership materials and practical resources. The role will provide the successful candidate with opportunities to lead on technical and capacity building activities, public facing events/workshops and develop a global profile as a TCFD expert.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter and an experienced presenter who possess experience in supporting business with TCFD and ESG reporting.

CDSB is an international award-winning initiative and this position in the global Secretariat provides the successful candidate with an exciting opportunity to gain global experience and make your mark on sustainable finance, helping to ensure the crucial interface between financial and non-financial information related to climate and the environment.

CDP hosts the CDSB Secretariat, and the role will be based in a CDP office (with current working from home policy in place due to COVID-19).

TCFD Technical Capacity Building Manager / Director responsibilities include:

  • Producing and delivering online capacity building program (workshops, webinars etc) for stock exchange issuers on TCFD (climate-related financial disclosures) in partnership with the SSE;
  • Authoring resources and thought leadership, in partnership with CDSB’s Technical Team, publications to support companies’ high quality TCFD reporting and integration with financial statements;
  • Working with the Policy & External Affairs Director and stakeholder engagement/policy staff provide CDSB’s expertise to governments on technical issues related to reporting;
  • Supporting delivery of CDSB’s Beyond Disclosure Program;
  • Providing technical input to the TCFD HUB Manager; and
  • Writing and/or coordinating TCFD consultation responses.

The successful candidate will have:

  • At least 5 (manager) / 8 (director) years’ experience in preparing climate-related financial disclosures within or for large listed companies;
  • A comprehensive understanding of ESG reporting and the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD);
  • The ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, in English;
  • Meticulous attention to detail and rigour;
  • A degree in accounting, law, environmental management or a related field or relevant professional experience; and
  • A good understanding of issues around sustainable finance.


  • Experience in running training activities / educational background.
  • Experience in the field of accounting and finance policy; and
  • Working knowledge of Spanish, French, Portuguese, or other languages.

The contract of employment will be with CDP Worldwide. Some international travel may be required, when safe to do so to deliver in person workshops/events.

Salary: £50-60,000 pro-rata based on experience.
