Do you enjoy working outdoors? Do you like spending time by rivers and exploring new places? We are looking for an enthusiastic and practical individual to help us improve the Trent Valley Way, a long distance walking route in Staffordshire and Derbyshire.

Job Title: Trent Valley Way Project Officer
Job Location: At the ‘Transforming the Trent Valley’ office in Rugeley. Home based during Covid lockdown.
Salary and terms: £23,790 pro rata, temporary (18 months), with possibility of extension subject to funding availability.
Part-time: 26 hours per week
Reporting to: Senior Catchment Manager (West)
Responsible for: None

Purpose of role: The project officer will work with partners, volunteers and contractors to deliver improvements to the Trent Valley Way within the Transforming the Trent Valley (TTTV) Landscape Partnership Scheme project area.

The Trent Valley Way is a long distance walking route along the Trent Valley. We have recently secured funding to develop the route for a 51km length of river within Staffordshire and Derbyshire.

The Role

The successful candidate will be the main lead for improving the Trent Valley Way between Colwich in Staffordshire and Shardlow in Derbyshire. Based with the TTTV National Lottery Funded Landscape Partnership Scheme, you will be employed by the Trent Rivers Trust to make the walking route safe and visible on the ground. It is an exciting role that requires attention to detail as well as the ability to liaise with a wide variety of people including farmers, planners, contractors and community groups. The work will involve installing way marking, interpretation and working with contractors to deliver a series of small scale capital works

The role will form part of a team of staff employed by The Trent Rivers Trust, who deliver projects across the entire Trent Catchment. The work of the Trust covers a broad range of interests including river restoration, natural flood management and supporting businesses and communities to improve water quality. The Trent Valley Way is a priority project for the Trust.

The successful candidate will be based at the offices of the TTTV in Rugeley, as well as at home whilst Covid restrictions are in place. The candidate will be expected to work out on site across the TTTV area. Applicants should have a good understanding of access, water and land management issues, be able to communicate to a wide variety of audiences and have at least two years experience of practical environmental project delivery. The role will also include managing a budget and the coordination of volunteers, and managing contractors whilst out on site.
