Have you done seasonal survey work for ecological consultancies, and are now looking for the next step and that permanent post?

Adonis Ecology is looking to recruit an ecologist to start as soon as possible for a permanent post. You would be undertaking a range of ecological surveys (especially Phase 1 Habitat Surveys), protected species surveys and mitigation, desk studies and report writing for planning applications and developments. You would also help with desk based research to develop advanced ecological assessment methods.

The post will be based at the Adonis Ecology office in Lavenham, Suffolk, although working from home may be required at times depending on covid-19 risk and associated government guidance. You would be provided with in-house training, plus a budget for external training courses.

If you think working for us would suit you, what we would require from you would be:

• A 2:1 or higher degree in ecology or related subject and good report writing skills;
• A driving licence and vehicle you can use for work purposes;
• Prepared to be flexible over travel and hours - overnight stays and late night/early morning survey visits required for bat and newt surveys in particular;
• Business-like, polite and professional manner for liaising with other team members, clients and suppliers;
• Some experience of professional Phase 1 Habitat Surveys;
• Good botanical identification skills.

Desirable:

• Experience and evidence of having been trained in visually checking buildings and trees for potential bat roosts, and working towards a bat survey licence;
• Experience of dusk/dawn bat surveys and bat analysis;
• Experience of working in business outside of ecological consultancy;
• Other protected species survey licences.
