An exiting opportunity has arisen to join Lochaber Environmental Group (LEG) as a Project Officer to help deliver the Fort William Electric Bike Share Scheme.
Job purpose
The Project Officer will support the ebike share scheme Project Manager to ensure successful delivery of the project by September 2022. Responsibilities will include organising and running community and business engagement events, including guided ebike rides, helping organise installation of the scheme infrastructure, maintenance of the scheme ebikes following training, helping with project administration, monitoring and reporting. The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Low Carbon Travel and Transport (LCTT) Challenge Fund, and Highland Council.
The ebike share scheme will use electric bike share equipment and technology to deliver a state-of-the-art active travel system comprising up to 80 electric bikes and 10 docking stations for securing and charging bikes, and advanced IT solutions, including GPS to track bikes, trip routing and security. The ebike share scheme will provide easy access to electric bikes to encourage residents and visitors to the area to use ebikes for local journeys, with charging stations at key locations around Fort William including the town centre, transport centre, and residential suburbs. Community and business engagement is an important part of the project to raise awareness about the scheme, improve bike riding skills and confidence, and increase the number of residents riding ebikes on a daily basis.
