Bats are amazing animals and an important part of our natural environment. There are 18 species of bat in the UK, all of which are protected by law because their numbers have decreased so dramatically. BCT operates a National Bat Helpline to provide almost 15 000 enquirers a year with easily accessible and accurate information, including advice on the legal responsibilities of those with a bat roost and support getting injured bats to the care they need. Myths and misunderstandings about bats, together with intolerance and fear, have always been obstacles to bat conservation. The Helpline’s role in advising and supporting people who come into contact with bats is an important part of BCT’s work towards our vision of a world rich in wildlife where bats and people thrive together.

We are recruiting up to four Seasonal Bat Advisors to join the Helpline team this summer. For one of the posts, there is an opportunity to also assist our Bats in Churches partnership project. As a member of our small but busy team, you will play a vital role in informing and inspiring the public about bats in the UK, by sharing your passion for conservation. The role not only allows you to develop your communication skills, but you will also gain technical expertise while working with some of the most experienced bat volunteers in the UK. Ideal for bat enthusiasts and early career conservationists alike, BCT provides two weeks of intensive training on all things bat, so if you are willing to learn and challenge yourself, we would love to hear from you. Seasonal Bat Advisors are well organised, self-motivated and thrive in a bustling, fast paced team. If you think you can be a passionate and enthusiastic ambassador for bats and BCT, please apply!

The Bat Conservation Trust is an equal opportunities employer which values diversity. We therefore welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons, from all sections of the community. All appointments will be made on merit.
