We’re currently looking for a Rights of Way Officer to join us on a part-time basis, working 15 hours per week.

The Role  

As a Rights of Way Officer, you will provide specialist advice to our Senior Rangers, the Head of Recreation and Ranger Service and the public regarding public rights of way and other access matters.  

This is a varied role that will see you undertake a range of tasks to support the delivery of our access work. You will liaise with user groups, landowners and partner organisations to improve access opportunities in the North York Moors. 

 Some of your duties will include:  

• Processing applications for the extinguishment, creation, modification, diversion, emergency and temporary closures of public rights of way
• Providing guidance on maintenance responsibilities, including enforcement 
• Advising on planning applications and consultations affecting public access
• Attending site meetings and inspecting the rights of way network when needed  

About You 

To join us as our Rights of Way Officer, you will need:  

• Experience of processing applications for the extinguishment, creation, modification, diversion and temporary closures of public rights of way
• Experience of recreation, access and countryside management policy development 
• Knowledge of the Rights of Way and Countryside Access legislation and its practical application
• An understanding of countryside management issues  

Other organisations may call this role Rights of Way Advisor, Public Access Officer, Countryside Rights of Way Officer, or National Park Access Officer.
