Are you looking for the chance to make a BIG difference to the aquatic environment?

The River Aire Catchment ranges from the limestone pavement uplands of Malham, through deeply rural and massively urban environments down to the lowlands where it meets the Ouse at Airmyn.

We are recruiting for a Project Officer to deliver 2 projects, Nature Connections and Developing the Natural Aire.

Nature Connections will connect the local communities of Baildon and Keighley to their river corridor. This exciting project will work with volunteers to create a pocket park in Keighley and a floodable meadow in Baildon including scrapes for flood attenuation, wildflower meadows and riparian planting. This will represent 0.6FTE of your time.

The other 0.4FTE will see you working on our other major project, Developing the Natural Aire, which aims to reconnect communities between Leeds and Gargrave to their river to celebrate the return of Atlantic salmon in the improved river. You work will include launching a walking for health group in Craven, improving the river whilst working alongside volunteers and our apprentice and running community engagement activities.

You will need to be:

  • Committed to improving our rivers and catchments.
  • Practical experience of leading volunteers to complete a variety of environmental improvements.
  • Familiar with and passionate about collaborative approaches
  • Prepared for and equally committed to ‘desk work’ and ‘wet feet, dirty hands’ activity

You will be working as part of a team of 6 or 7 people in our rapidly expanding Trust and will get the chance to share skills across the team, most especially when it comes to project delivery.

This full-time post will have a salary of £23,000 pa plus expenses. You must have your own transport, for which an appropriate mileage allowance will be paid and we may require you to have a DBS check.
