STRI is a world leading sports surface solutions and infrastructure development focused business with its head office in Bingley, West Yorkshire. It is part of the STRI Group, a number of businesses focused on sport and outdoor recreation, development, green infrastructure and water management sectors.

The company has over 90 years of history and has worked on some of the biggest national and international projects which in recent years has included the 2012 Olympics in London, numerous FIFA World Cups, UEFA competitions and has delivered other unique projects such as the Saudi Cup turf racetrack in Saudi Arabia.

As the company expands, it is looking to bring in the right person to help deliver projects of this nature, working as part of a team producing high quality facilities, developments and surfaces on behalf of our clients. You will be based in Bingley, West Yorkshire, but the job will entail travel throughout the UK and potentially Europe and other countries.

STRI has a number of specialist consultants, designers, and technicians as well as project management capability and digital designers that can realise and deliver our clients’ aspirations. The successful candidate will be working as part of a wider development team within the Planning and Environment department, working alongside other specialist development consultants.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Hold a relevant degree
  • Be a member of CIEEM (or working towards membership)
  • 3+ years post (academic) qualification experience
  • Understand the EIA process (and have worked with it)
  • Proficient in GIS
  • An interest in the environment, good verbal and written communication, an eye for detail and lateral thinking, IT skills, and client management skills – commercial awareness is important
  • Full UK driving licence

Non-essential:

  • Experience of working in the sports sector
  • Experience of working on multidisciplinary projects regionally, nationally or internationally
  • Specialist license holder (bat/great crested newt etc)

Your work will include:

  • Conducting preliminary ecological assessments on site
  • Conducting habitat assessments, including presence-absence surveys
  • Collecting specimens
  • Monitoring construction projects (Ecological Clerk of Works)
  • Processing, capturing and analysing data
  • Compiling technical reports and findings
  • Planning field work
  • Discussing requirements with clients
  • Writing reports (including for environmental statements)
  • Presenting proposals to clients for approval and agreeing timescales
  • Seeking the opinions of locals, business through public engagement
  • Liaising with other professionals such as architects, consultants, town planners and engineers
