About Us

Do you want to work for one of the UK’s leading, award winning, ecological and arboricultural consultancies? Due to recent expansion and further planned strategic growth within the company, Middlemarch Environmental are currently recruiting for roles to meet our growing client needs throughout the country and to engage with the emerging biodiversity agenda.

Middlemarch Environmental provides client focused, cost effective advice and expertise on all ecological and arboricultural issues that occur during the planning and development process. The company was set up in 1989 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, which is itself part of The Wildlife Trusts, the largest voluntary organisation in the UK concerned with all aspects of nature conservation and the environment.

The Role

As a key member of the Ecology Team, you will be expected to act as field lead on our larger major projects such as road, rail and overhead power schemes. Often leading a team working on complex schemes with multiple protected species, you will be the link between client, the field and the office support team. The Field Manager will oversee the implementation of mitigation works. You will undertake a wide variety of field surveys and ensure that advice and recommendations resulting from these surveys are communicated effectively to clients through written reports and verbal communication.

The package will include a competitive salary (dependent on experience and skills) with the potential for performance related rewards depending upon company performance, a company pension and an opportunity for continued professional development. Overtime and TOIL are also available.

Skills and Experience Required

A background in either field-based ecology or environmental landscaping is essential. The ideal candidate will be confident leading surveys and providing advice with a positive work ethic and have a minimum 2 years experience in a similar role. Good interpersonal skills and site bas with clients and colleagues. Good report writing skills and experience of working on complex projects with multiple protected species is required. You will be competent in Microsoft Office packages including Excel and Word and mapping software experience would be desirable.

A valid CSCS card is essential. Personal protected species licences and a current SSSTS certificate would be an advantage.
