SAERI is recruiting a Marine and Coastal Programme Co-ordinator (MCPC) to ensure the continued focus on, and development of, marine and coastal environmental research and management in the Falkland Islands. This newly developed non-project based co-ordination role, has the ultimate goal of helping secure long-term capacity and sustainability in Falkland Islands ocean conservation, management and research coordination. Working in partnership with the Falkland Islands Government, the role will:

  1. Ensure the long-term sustainability of marine and coastal environmental research and management;
  2. Input into the continued development of proposed Marine Management Areas; 
  3. Enhance collaborations and partnerships, publish research

This is a new role within SAERI, responsible for working with partners, stakeholders and the local community to support the co-ordination of marine and coastal environmental research and management.

Main Essential criteria:

  • PhD in Marine Sciences, marine policy, or related field
  • 5 years’ experience working in marine ecology, marine policy OR a field with transferable skills
  • An excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills who can convey complex concepts and facts to a variety of audiences
