Low Carbon Programme Manager, Transportation 

Job Function

To assist the Transportation Workstream (WS) lead, Task Force leads and Strategy and Policy Vice President by contributing technical expertise in transportation sector subjects, managing the day to day activities of the Workstream and Task Forces, playing a pivotal role in driving the agenda of the Workstream and Task Forces whilst ensuring close collaboration with other Workstreams through the Strategy and Policy team and OGCI Climate Investments to align strategy and actions. 

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Support the definition of the Transportation Workstream
  • Prepare the annual work program and ensure its delivery across all Member Companies
  • Communication and outreach
  • Knowledge Management
  • Collaborate and support of the Carbon Intensity Taskforce on a part time basis

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Strategic Execution of the Workstream Mission

  • To assist the Workstream lead and the Vice President of Strategy and Policy in defining and delivering the workstream strategy and work program
  • To contribute to scoping both supporting studies and major initiatives, coordinate activities across multi-national project teams, and research information for activities on energy efficiency, hydrogen, low carbon transport fuels and renewable energy.

Coordination and Planning

  • To be accountable for the planning, organization and facilitation of monthly meetings and calls, producing meeting agendas and minutes
  • To support sub-topic focused working groups in delivering on assigned workplans
  • To serve as the focal point within the OGCI team for Transport related matters and occasionally represent OGCI externally
  • To collaborate closely with other OGCI workstreams and the OGCI Climate Investments team to align strategy and actions.

Communication and Outreach

  • To create and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, e.g. with representatives of member companies, research institutions, universities, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and industry trade groups.
  • To liaise with the Vice President, Strategic Marketing and Communications and provide functional expertise towards advocacy positions, events and communications campaigns
  • To prepare briefing notes and contribute expertise towards content to be used in external speeches and presentations 

Education And Professional Qualifications Required

  • Degree in energy sector relevant topic (e.g. engineering, science, economics, international affairs, economics and policy etc.) 

Experience and Technical Competencies

  • Previous experience working in or with the transportation or energy systems fields which may include, but is not limited to, any of the following: passenger cars/trucks, heavy duty trucks/machinery, aviation, maritime shipping, oil and gas production, refining, renewable energy
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following technical areas: vehicle and engine efficiency, hydrogen production, distribution or use, low carbon transport fuels, renewable energy
  • GHG and climate agenda/policy knowledge relating to transport
  • Working knowledge of technical and policy/regulatory issues in the low-carbon economy

  • Ability to synthesize technical documents into easily readable executive summary documentation

  • Appetite to learn and to become familiar with new topics

Additional Information

  • Position is based in London
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK is essential
  • The role will involve domestic and international travel as required
