Job responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity to work for Kier Highways. You will assist the Senior Environment & Sustainability Manager and Sustainability Advisor to lead the coordination of all aspects of sustainable waste and material procurement across all Highways contracts. You will provide advice to contracts and projects on all aspects of sustainable materials procurement and waste management in line with the clients targets for Zero Waste and Sustainable Materials principles. The Waste & Material Manager will be responsible for overseeing the waste management training for the contractor, Work with contracts to maintain relevant waste documentation (WTNs, permits, waste carrier licences etc, Identify further opportunities to drive down waste and realise associated cost savings work with Environment, Operational and Procurement Teams to deliver all elements of the REP

What do we need from you?

  • Environmental/Sustainability degree or equivalent
  • Member of an environmental/sustainability institute (e.g. IEMA, CIWM)
  • Relevant experience in a Waste Management role.
  • Good knowledge of the broad sustainability agenda;
  • Good knowledge of general sustainability issues, best practice and associated legislation
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Experience dealing with key stakeholders
