Due to continued success Greenspace Ecological Solutions (GES) are looking to expand their Senior Ecologist team and are therefore seeking, experienced, forward thinking ecologists that are either currently working at Senior Level or that are looking for their next step.

Our geographic work area predominantly across the South East of the England and hotel living is rare. Our office is based 15min outside Tunbridge Wells (on the Kent and East Sussex border) and we can offer Senior Ecologist roles both office or home based, or a mix of both.

About the Role

The successful candidate would;

  • Be Lead Ecologist on a variety of schemes across a range of disciplines, managing projects and delivery, ensuring projects and services are delivered to a high standard in a timely and cost-effective manner, managing deadlines and project budgets
  • Manage, co-ordinate, undertake a wide range of habitat and protective species surveys and provide sound ecological advice to client across a broad range of sectors
  • Produce and review the analysis and statistical assessment of ecological data, and a wide range of technical reports, EPS licence applications, EcIA, HRA, BREEAM and Net Gain workings
  • Line manage and mentor more junior members of the team and be actively involved in knowledge sharing
  • Produce tenders and liaise with both current and new clients, regulators, third parties, providing sound ecological advice
  • Conduct training sessions both in-house and at times, externally
  • Enjoy that all important balance between field and office/WFH based work, whilst working on a variety of projects across a range of sectors
  • Contribute towards discussion and debate in an innovative and proactive manor
  • Be part of a team who take great pride in the work which they do

The successful candidate/s at minimum you must;

  • Have experience of working within UK ecological consultancy, with at least 3 years working at Ecologist level or above.
  • Have detailed working knowledge of planning policy and environmental / wildlife legislation
  • Have working consultancy experience of managing mid to large-scale residential, commercial and infrastructure projects through to completion
  • Have experience of running an array of projects within the residential, commercial and utilities sectors
  • Have strong project management skills with a demonstrative ability to plan and deliver works in line with budgets and programme deadline
  • Have experience of conducting an array of EIA, habitat and protective species surveys to a high standard and have detailed knowledge of the associated survey techniques
  • Have experience of writing and providing detailed technical review across a range of ecological and technical reports, EPS licence applications, etc
  • Have experience of designing, implementing, and managing ecological mitigation on a range of schemes across a range of disciplines
  • Have experience in tendering to various sectors and the ability to actively grow/maintain a client base
  • Have experience of mentoring and/or line managing more junior ecologists
  • Have a pro-active approach to learning and knowledge sharing and have good presentation skills
  • Have ability to communicate effectively and support clients and team members in a clear, concise, professional manor
  • Be detail orientated and commercially aware
  • Have ability to lead by example and work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualification, Membership and Licence Requirements

  • Have a degree and/or a post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Have at least 2 Natural England EPS licence/s and/or a technical specialism used within ecological consultancy
  • Be an Associate Level CIEEM membership (or above)
  • Hold a Full Driving licence for UK use and access to a vehicle for work use

The Package for Senior Ecologists

Salary: £28,000- £35,000

Location: The role is offered as office or home based. Please specify your preference when applying. For Home-Based working you must be based within Kent or East Sussex

Hours: Full time or Part time. Some out-of-office hours working will be required to aid with the prevision of surveys and meetings.
