If you have a rare combination of skills, bringing together a sound knowledge of domestic energy efficiency, coupled with the ability to work supportively with those most at risk of fuel poverty then this role could be just what you’re looking for...

Here at South East London Community Energy (SELCE) we’re recruiting two energy advisor that builds on our creative, award-winning work addressing climate change and fuel poverty in practical, tangible ways. You can be part of this work.

Almost one in ten households cannot afford to heat their homes adequately. Using your knowledge about domestic energy and your excellent communication skills, you will provide practical guidance and support to households who are struggling to pay their fuel bills. You will advise clients about how to reduce their fuel bills by switching suppliers or accessing discounts or changing behaviour or by fitting small practical energy-saving measures such as low energy light bulbs and draft proofing. You will also support the householder to access funded home energy improvements such as loft, cavity wall insulation or heating upgrades.

Following government guidance and our own risk assessments, this support may take place over the phone, online or, should local and national health advice allow, in the home or in public spaces.

Outreach to the community and particularly to community sector organisations serving those most at risk of fuel poverty is a big part of the job: it’s important that community leaders and vulnerable households know how to seek help with energy issues.

To deliver this role you will need to have Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) or NVQ Level 3 (6049-03) or equivalent or City and Guilds Energy Awareness (6281-01) formerly known as 6176 Energy Awareness or equivalent.

If you are practical, passionate about helping vulnerable people, have a can-do attitude along with a sound knowledge about energy markets and energy efficiency, get in touch. It’s a big and varied challenge and we are keen to find the right person, so if you have any questions or queries about the job, feel free to contact Giovanna (CEO) before the deadline on 020 8269 4882
