This post represents an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a highly motivated and dynamic team responsible for the science underpinning much of the RSPB's international conservation work.

Current projects include high profile work on globally threatened species (e.g. Gyps vultures) and sites (e.g. Gola and Harapan Forests), major island restorations (e.g. Gough), long-distance migrants, global agriculture and nature-based solutions.

As a member of the Conservation Science Leadership Team and the Global Land and Science Portfolio Boards the post holder will have a strategic input to the international and scientific work of the RSPB.

There will be extensive opportunities to play a wider role in research and teaching in the Cambridge Conservation Initiative and within the BirdLife partnership around the world.

There will be scope to maintain personal scientific involvement in one or more projects undertaken by the international conservation section and to develop new research areas in line with RSPB strategic priorities, to be an ambassador of RSPB science and to travel overseas reasonably frequently while remaining mindful of the need to reduce the RSPB's carbon footprint.
